Club Amenities
The Oakmont Country Club is nestled at the base of the Verdugo Hills. With its clean lines, distinctive blue peaked roof and redwood framed windows and doorways, the clubhouse sports a fresh, contemporary appeal. Yet when you step inside you immediately feel the old fashioned welcome of fresh flowers and attentive service from a friendly staff who knows your name. The spacious 42,000 square foot clubhouse includes a foyer reception area, full service formal and casual dining rooms, well appointed banquet facilities, a conference room, men's and women's locker rooms, card rooms, a professionally equipped exercise room, an on-site barbershop, masseuse and a golf pro shop. Social events such as holiday festivities, theme parties and golf tournaments are programmed year round for the enjoyment of members, their families and their guests.
Golf
Oakmont's 18-hole championship golf course is a classic Southern California style course featuring a challenging layout and undulating greens. Beautifully tree-lined and well bunkered, the course provides a tough, but fair test of skill for professionals and amateurs alike. In keeping with tradition, beverage and food service is provided at the ninth hole. Staffed with five PGA golf professionals, Oakmont offers its members private or group golf lessons utilizing state-of-the-art video teaching instruction. A range of tournaments designed for men, women, seniors and juniors are conducted year round. In the summer, Oakmont holds a junior golf camp for children ages 7-17 and sponsors a junior golf team that competes with other local clubs. The full service golf shop is well-stocked with golf clothing, shoes, bags, balls and other merchandise. The bag staff provides you with the convenience of maintaining your clubs on the premises. At Oakmont, a relaxing day on the greens is a luxury within your reach.
Swim
The popular outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Oakmont offers swim lessons to members and promotes its own youth swim team which competes against five other local country clubs in the Crest League. A wading pool for the use of children under four and their parents ensures that even pre-swimmers can enjoy the water. A certified lifeguard is on duty during all hours of pool operation. Family Nights are featured in the warm summer months with open swimming for members and guests, a buffet dinner and a variety of poolside entertainment such as musicians, dancers, magicians, and animal shows. The pool locker rooms are fully tiled and feature handsome wood lockers with electronic locks. Members also find the pool to be an excellent destination for reclining on a chaise lounge with a good book and a tall drink. We invite you to suit up and cool down at the Oakmont pool. The poolside Splash Cafe serves lunch, snacks and beverages in a patio area overlooking both the pool and the golf course.
Dine
Dining at Oakmont is always a pleasure. The award-winning executive chef offers an extensive menu in the full service dining rooms. In the midst of golfing or swimming, members can pick up a refreshing drink or delicious sandwich at the Golf Snack Bar or poolside Splash Cafe. Oakmont offers outdoor dining at the Terrace Grill from May to October, giving members the choice to enjoy a leisurely meal basking in the sunshine or relaxing in the shade overlooking the golf course. The club is an excellent venue for wedding receptions, corporate events, anniversaries, group meetings, birthday gatherings and private dinner parties. These events are welcomed through the sponsorship of a member. Whether it's a casual lunch with friends, a cocktail party for the office staff or a formal gala for hundreds of guests, Oakmont provides the right setting and the best service to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
A Rich History
What we know as the grounds of Oakmont Country Club was once a working vineyard. In 1922, the Oakmont Country Club opened to great fanfare featuring a Tudor clubhouse graced by a Max Behr designed golf course that captured the character of the Arroyo Verdugo landscape. A devastating fire destroyed the original clubhouse in 1946, but not the spirit of its members who rebuilt the clubhouse the following year. Oakmont has played host to a number of professional tournaments, notably the LPGA tournament in the 1980's through 1990's. A complete clubhouse remodel was undertaken in 1995, resulting in the spacious, contemporary clubhouse enjoyed by members and their guests today. The members, and their dedication to uphold the premium golf and country club experience, ensure that Oakmont and its rich history will continue for future generations.
A New Tradition
As ideal for networking with business associates as it is for sharing a meal with family, Oakmont Country Club graciously conforms to the needs of its members by providing personalized, attentive service in a desirable setting. Oakmont members long ago discovered that they had their own jewel tucked into the Arroyo Verdugo – not a stuffy bastion of rules and formality but a quietly special place with a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere that, after a while, feels like home.
